Bio:

Markus Ullsperger studied medicine at Charles University in Pilsen, Czech Republic, and Charité, Humboldt University Berlin, Germany. At the Max Planck Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, Leipzig, he received his medical doctorate from Leipzig University in 2000. He did his postdoctoral training at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Leipzig, and received his habilitation in Cognitive Neurology from Leipzig University in 2007. In 2006 he became leader of the Max Planck Research Group Cognitive Neurology at the Max Planck Institute for Neurological Research, Cologne, where he built up his own laboratory. In 2009 he was appointed to full professor of Biological Psychology at Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands, and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour. Markus Ullsperger pursues a multimodal convergent methods approach to study the implementation of adaptive, goal-directed behavior in the human brain. He focuses on performance monitoring and subsequent cognitive and behavioral adjustments. To this end, he combines electrophysiology, functional neuroimaging, genetics, and pharmacology in healthy volunteers and selected neurological and psychiatric patients.
